How did I become a Nanny?

Brittany started out her college education in the fields of Physics and Mathematics. Here she fueled her desire to question, learn, and grow from the world around her. Her professors described her as very tenacious and asked a lot of questions! She balanced her school work, multiple jobs, friends, and family throughout her undergraduate career. Brittany loved working with children as well as tutoring students from Kindergarten to other university students. She never could give up those to have a job in her "career field".

As she continued on her journey, she found herself in a Ph.D. program for Physics. Here she was the TA for the undergraduate Physics 1 and 2 classes for the physics major students. The drive to spark interest in her students continued on full force here! Going above and beyond to create curiosity and intrigue was her primary goal as a TA.

After some hard research, Brittany decided she wanted to go to Georgia Institute of Technology for Medical Physics in hopes of one day working with Pediatric Cancer patients. But once again, she chose to seek out a job that let her be in childcare and she chose the ONLY recreational/non-academic summer camp on GT campus to become a counselor at thus ensuring she was completely focused on spending time with the campers. This is where Brittany blossomed on a professional level far more than she knew she needed to! Due to her vast experience with children, organizational skills, and love for her job, she quickly became Head Counselor and then a couple weeks later was promoted to Assistant Director of the summer camp! Brittany was not only able to continue honing her skills in childcare, but she also worked on her professional office skills in leadership, team work, communication, and adaptability. Throughout her two years, she worked in multiple areas of the Georgia Tech Competitive Sports Department including becoming the Assistant Director of Tournament Administration for the NIRSA Basketball Tournament in March 2017, Competitive Sports Office Manager, and even became a CPR instructor for the department.

When her time ended at Georgia Tech, she thought she would be done with university. That is until she decided to go back for her Masters in Secondary Education to become a High School Physics teacher. During this time she chose to become a Full Time Nanny. As she continued through the Masters program, she realized a major component to her life she had been ignoring. Brittany loved raising children and taking care of a household! She thrived as a Nanny! She loved being able to be a part of their daily lives. This is when she decided she wanted to become a Professional Career Nanny.

Her love in caring for children, teaching them, watching them grow, celebrating their achievements while teaching them from their failures, taking them to sports practice, making them dinner, being there to make them feel better when they are sick, and just being yet one more person they can look up to and count on, was more than enough for Brittany to finally accept this is what she wanted to do long term. Looking back she does wish she would seen all the signs of never wanting a job that did not involve children so she did not have to go through seven years of university. But she also knows she needed those seven years to prepare her and give her so many resources and skills that she will be able to use the rest of her life to help children grow into the best version of themselves.

Currently, Brittany is able to work as a Full Time Nanny, Household Manager, and Family Assistant. She is building up her resume as a Travel Nanny and a Night Nanny as well.

Her hopes are to be able to create joy and laughter in as many children as she can even when she is only their babysitter for an evening!
